Words and phrases are powerful, and conservatives recognize this. Fascists are amazingly adept at taking over and redefining terms. Sometimes they just “un”-define them, rendering them nebulous and trying to take away any meaning it once had.

Can see this with “antifa” (which they’ve sought to redefine as some kind of shadowy nationwide anarchist militia), “BLM” (which they elect to perceive as something like “no lives matter except those of black people”), etc.

Its always reminded me of those passages in 1984 about how the gradual destruction of language cements the Party’s control by robbing people’s ability to even conceive of and communicate ideas contrary to their wishes.
