How did this work prior to this change when the sneak button was pressed?

There was a system message that would say something to the effect of "you can't sneak underwater". However you could sneak on land and walk into water and remain sneaking.

Since there was no land in kedge, would be impossible to sneak in classic there. I believe then you couldn't fish in kedge either since you had to be on dry land (another system message).

I believe I have log files with the sneak fail and fishing fail messages

Edit: I don't recall classic behavior of zone line sneaking... so uncertain if h/s would drop but maybe just sneak wouldn't? Dunno, maybe was possible in kedge if that could happen
