those are satalites, so maybe if its off just a tinnnnny bit, it will scrape our atmosphere, but cause the kepplar effect as it smashes through our satlities.

There is actually a great barrier for planetary species where a planet may be surrounded by so much orbiting debris that it is not possible for the species on the planet to exit it and explore space, trapped in a prison of swirling razorblades.
