The merged servers will probably have approx the same population if there is a new time line progression server open at the same time.
Normal players don't know how many people are playing both green and blue at the same time, so you can't just add the numbers together. Maybe 1000 pop right now, and then a lot of those people would jump over to play new timeline server when / if it opens up.
