It doesn’t matter whether it’s congress or chief of police or the city administration, assigning 1 officer per 500 people or whatever the ratio is just absurd. Especially considering it’s a political rally and one that occurred AFTER all the chaos of the 2020 riots. Any decent planner should have realized that a political rally can turn into a riot in a flash

Then afterwards Congress spent millions upon millions of dollars to “secure” the capital against future attacks that didn’t happen. I’m not calling that a complete waste, because maybe secretly there was some plan to attack the capital again that was deterred by the ridiculous police-state levels of security. Buuuut it’s way too reactive when the city admin should have been proactive
