And yeah we're talking about cars as cars that drive places that complete jobs, not specific sub categories like sports cars or luxury cars because those don't require cars to be good cars, only that they fulfil the specific sports or luxury purpose.
Like, an LS4XX is better than any mercedes in all car features (reliability, quality) but will lose due to perceived excellenceness and its kind of silly to discuss those properties because they're fully subjective, and when it comes to that I would take whichever I think looks the best. But for these categories 1. Car: Corolla 2. Mid car: Camry 3. Crossover: Highlander 4. Small Crossover: Rav 4 5. Small SUV: 4 runner 6. Small pickup: Tacoma 7. Full 1/2 ton SUV: Sequoia 8. Full 1/2 ton truck: Tundra 9. Hybrid: Prius 10. Minivan: Sienna For all of those cars and categories, the toyota does the job the best. None of them is trying to be extreme luxury, none of them is trying to be extreme off road. They are cars for everyone to do what mostly everyone needs cars to do. And in all of the categories that Toyota makes a car, it is the best choice barring subjective concerns like aesthetics or feel. The BRZ / FRS / GT86 doesn't qualify, because it is a subaru. It is a good car in its own right, and if it had a toyota inline 4 cyl engine it would certainly be the best small sports car made in many years and the only good one made today. The new Supra doesn't qualify, because it is a BMW. It is a good car in its own right, and if it had a toyota inline 6 or simply the lexus ISF 302 v8 it would be a very desireable car. As it is, its just another BMW and most toyota people don't want BMW problems. And then there is the Avalon, but thats a car segment that I don't really care about. Nicer than camry mid size sedan? Its a great car but I don't even know what it's up against. Land Cruiser is a special car made in a different factory that costs a ton of money. For what it is, it is the absolute kind of the hill but its basically 100,000 dollars and hard to justify for most people vs a Sequoia even though its the absolute best big off road land yacht. | ||
