Apparently when jettisoning fat, it is good to do strength exercises as they (somehow) improve the elasticity of the skin, helping it spring back, instead of staying stretched and sagged.
Dunno if true - there are a lot of health myths.

Wouldn’t hurt. Stretched skin does shrink, sometimes to a crazy degree. Large amounts of water and fruits/veggies would probably help more than just weight lifting. Obviously lifting and cardio are great for your health, but if you were interested in shrinking loose skin, hydration and diet would be my angle of attack
I used to be obese (260lbs not working out at all playing video games 14 hours/day) when I was addicted to WoW doing the rank 14 grind. When I finally lost the weight by running I had loose skin around my waist. It eventually all got absorbed due to having a clean diet with lots of fruit and veggies for years
