Yet again, how deadly it might be isn't even the point, are widespread economic lockdowns a sensible reaction to it? There are many perfectly valid arguments that they aren't. Reasonable people are willing to discuss it, rather than covering your ears and going "Can't hear you 400k dead the sky is falling!!".

If people were honest and reasonable about this, there would be two numbers: Number of people who have died *because* of covid, and number of people who have died while simply having it. The 400k figure is used to fear monger and is incredibly boneheadedly simple and almost useless for determining how risky it actually is and whether lockdowns make sense.
