If abortion or anything needs to be changed legally it should be voted on and passed in the Legislative Branch by members who are accountable to the electorate. Not the Judicial Branch who shouldn't be beholden to anyone except the Constitution. If the Legislative branch throws together a law that the Judicial branch doesn't think holds water they are doing so because it is poorly written and not possible to uphold. At which point they have the Legislative branch rewrite it and try again. Learn about Civics

RvW bypassed the Legislative Branch precisely because they likely couldn't have garnered the support in the Legislative branch, or were too cowardly to full-on come out in favor of abortion at that time. So they kick the bucket to the Judicial Branch.

Im not sure that's what happened. I think people were trying to pass laws and they took it to their local courts, and they couldn't solve it so it was passed up to the SCOTUS and there they determined it was constitutional and that is how legal precedent works?

Is that not how it happened? anyone got another story that is different?
