However, if you watch this video, you can clearly see secondary effects from a smaller primary explosion burning off until the huge blast occurs.

Somebody (hopefully Israel) hit an arms depot, the small flashes would be something like bullets exploding under heat, until a large store of "high" explosives is ignited by heat from the primary blast or secondary explosions. Just look at that blast wave. People are reporting windows blown at 10 KM away. Local Beirut TV claimed it to be fireworks storage, but truckloads of fireworks won't explode nearly as fast as that secondary.

Director of General Security, has told Lebanese media that the most likely source of the blast was a depot at the port, where highly explosive materials had been stored.
The director general of customs has been quoted as saying that nitrate was the cause of the huge explosion.
