The biggest thing for me was that the community on TLPs are shit. A whole lot of quiet people boxing their mages and very little of the emergent gameplay and social elements you find on P99.
TLP's are great for the people with underdeveloped prefrontal cortices who can't delay gratification and comprehend abstracted effort:reward
