New twink, Pally or Ranger

I'm not an expert on Paladin, but surely with stuff like crown of narandi, eyepatch mq, belt of the great turtle, some haste, a fungi and a decent weapon will do you well?

I mean I suppose you could do a ranger without the clicky haste cloak or epics, but are you even really doing a ranger.
