The Senate will never convict Trump. That's not the point. When Nixon was impeached, a majority of Americans did not support impeachment. As more and more evidence was uncovered during the impeachment investigation, public opinion shifted. This isn't about referring articles of impeachment to the Senate. We all know what that outcome is. This is about crippling Trump's re-election hopes and ensuring that he will face prosecution the moment he leaves office.
