Let's pluck at that line of thought and run with it.

A) You could just assume the person is afk, refuse to respond to their messages, refuse to acknowledge that they are moving their character, and just to do some scumbag FTE nonsense.

Or

B) You could ask "Are you there?"
"Yes"
"Okay. Just doing an AFK check"


To the insane mind one of these options is the correct course of action. To an exceptionally daft and depraved mind, A is not only the correct option but B is like starting up a lonely conversation.
