When do you use the word "obliged" over "obligated"? Is obligated even a real word???

Okay I'm feeling you about the thankfulness thing. but is it grammatically incorrect then to say something like :

"I felt obliged at least to give him head because he bought such a nice dinner and is obviously not a man of means"

If you feel obliged to give head he is a sweetheart, if you feel obligated he is an ass hole.
