The problem with Vanilla or progression is the inevitable inflation and that everyone knows it goes to shit after PoP or Velious so there is a definite end to content, so unless it's the server with custom content there is no point. You kill populations permanently by wiping the entire thing and the end result will be the same due to non-sufficient resource sinks. My idea would be to put an NPC that checks a database and assigns "value" to oversaturated items/plat for the era but made for good camps in the past, kinda like tribute but the in demand items change every so often to keep an equilibrium. What the incentive is I don't know maybe a roll for a guise/no drop prenerfs, or something bigger like tying it to guild tags and getting a tiny chance on respawning warders with a time locked FTA. Then you'd see the server being cleaned out of 8 years seafury plat, duped cash, hoarding, and twink gear bloat with a healthy economy again. Minus the chardok leveled scum.

But then again I did get a Skull-shaped barbute, Adamantite Band, and Djarnn's (!!) ring for free the first 2 weeks of Kunark begging in EC so big dick philanthropy was always around. 1200pp SCHW and goblin skull earrings dipping to 1.5k... not so much.
