SK Epic question

I am kind of lost on how to even start it. Once upon a time, I collected the three pieces of Darkforge armor, and the 900pp and assembled a team to go kill Kurron Ni, and he wasn't up (and on a 3 day timer). Then later I found out that entire part and the next part(s) with the Cough Syrup and Dusty Tome can be skipped.

So the next part of the walkthrough is collect all the swords. So I went to Upper Guk and camped my own Ghoulbane and have attended Sky and Fear raids hoping for a drop on those. But is that the only thing I can do at this point, or can I skip around and do other parts while I wait for the these planar sword drops? Can I do the fight in the Hole, the drake in RM, etc. without having done anything prior?
