Two of my cats have a routine they start every night when they want more food. Mako deliberately gets Leo to chase her around deliberately starting a fight with him all done to wake me up so I will feed them. When I start getting up to yell at them or spray them with water, they instantly stop fighting and run to their bowls crying as if they are starving. Not sure if both understand the ruse, or if only Mako who runs around trying to get Leo to chase her. It's devious though.

The other common "trick" is for Leo to poke me subtly in the face with a claw every 30-40 seconds till I get up and feed him. He pretends it's an act of love, as he lies next to me gazing at my face longingly with his paw posed right next to my cheek and eye when it's nothing short of torture.
