Not Able to Loot Underwater

I've only had two monsters die on me under water recently, but I haven't been able to loot either corpses. The first corpse was a bulthar that I killed in Colbat scar. The second was the guardian of K'aron that I killed in Ocean of Tears.
The error is:
You are too far away to loot that corpse
You may not loot this corpse at this time.
