I recommend dorf or erudite.
dorf cultural smithing is the best classic smithing.
Ignore the erudite haters. That starting INT is beast + Shield of the Stalwart Seas Which holds up in it's own way even with velious shields.

Erudite: Add 15 to Stamina and 5 to Agility.

And get haste items. Be sure you have STR for your gear + carrying crap. Or buy potions that raise your STR. Problem solved.
