They have gold, oil, hard assets and then plenty of dollars to sell for one of the other ~three major reserve currencies. They just threatened to sell off almost 1 trillion US dollars. China is calling for a new standard reserve currency, they control 11% of the world reserve just in their yuan as it became an official major reserve currency in November of last year, and growing.
