I think DKP works great in a game like EQ with an incredibly low skill bar and almost no gear checks on any progression other than how many bodies you can bring. If people are truly "afk in walls" collecting dkp and buying top shelf items, then the problem isn't dkp but rather the guild that allows those people to be tagged.

Tempest isn't hitting walls because someone's monk alt has a dain belt, but rather because of the sheer number requirement the top targets require.
I bet no one 100% afks during the entire raid. THey afk until the mobs is about to come in. if you boot the chronic afks then when the mob comes in you wont have enough heals dps or tanks.

Raids seem to kind of fall on the shoulders of a few people leading the raid and a few classes to make it happen. On a server that doesnt have a surplus of people or any particular class then you have to kind of take what you can get and cant say well just boot those 10 people who afk until the raid mob comes.

If empire did straight dkp I feel like the 4 main warriors would have gotten less gear and we would not have killed as many mobs/progressed as we did but I could be wrong. I know vymm gave us trouble until we got like 3 tanks decently geared.

You also have people offering different levels of contribution to a guild. If the loot counsel is pretty fair I think thats the best way to go while tracking attendance. You have some monks who do all the pulling and some monks who just want to FD until the mob gets there. Warrior is a pretty easy job but there were good amount through out empire that just didnt know stuff. I was not perfect by any means but we had warriors not hit defensive, or pull the raid mob onto the healers, some warriors never got mallets and always needed to be handed them. Rogs, gaping pretty much always topped the dps charts and never got aggro then we had Anime with like 100% RA dieing to every mob because he never evaded. So if that vulak dagger drops who would you want to to give it to?

Just my opinion. I definitely did better off with LC/RA vs straight DKP so I am baised
