Here in Colorado Springs I used to get opium regularly back around 2000-2002. Then I moved away for about a decade and I've only seen it offered a handful of times since. The stuff I'd get was almost amber in appearance and I'll second the similarity in scent and taste to incense. The high was like coming down from a five day meth binge but without the monsters. God I used to love me some fucking opium.
I remember when the Madden game came out in 2001, I had three grams and -- actually I don't really remember much. But four days later I ran out of opium and I haven't been able to enjoy Madden since.
