This is a gotcha question because we both know it was inappropriate for me to use that term in the first place as it was created by the US, NATO, and its allies several decades ago for the purpose of the Cold War. I was using it colloquially.

The nations working with Assad are themselves authoritarian nations. He has bombed his own territory, created the worst refugee crisis in decades and employed chemical weapons against his own people.
Now if these things fail to move you, so be it. If you are ignorant of them, go do your homework.
