I would agree for public games, but I think in organized play Ascend actually had a lot more evolution in what was considered the best strategies. That probably had a lot to do with it being newer, but the prevailing wisdom regarding strategies changed drastically each season, and even a lot mid-season. I cant remember the team name, but there was a US team that destroyed everyone (including a reboot of 5150 from old tribes) running 5 offense and 2 defense, with no heavy on flag, when everyone was saying that D stacking was unbeatable. Ascend also had a lot more complex flag play, and rock routes made the capper vs. D dynamic a lot more interesting.

One of the biggest problems with Tribes imo is actually how split the community is between the different version. Right now there are active communities in T2, Vengeance, and Ascend, but none have enough people to support an actual league. I can totally understand some of the hate from T1 and T2 players towards Ascend, but have absolutely no idea how anyone thinks T:V is worth playing.
