I feel like this qualifies you as being involved. I would like a short write up concerning the hard evidence you uncovered that justified the actions you took (private message is fine). Please, it will give those affected closure and help grow the trust between the server community and the staff...If no such evidence is forthcoming, Bassman may have a point about the server being broken...

I'm a strong proponent of transparency. I am for something like this, but right now it is our policy to not post any specifics about any bans/suspends/etc. I am working internally to change that policy, but as it is that's the policy I am bound by.

So unless you are a first-party in this situation, I will not give you information on it. You are free to talk to those whom are first parties, and if they want to tell you things they certainly can.
