I have been reading up on it and it does seem like every class bitches about something, which usually points towards some balance.

One thing I have seen consistently is that shaman healers aren't ideal because of cast times and other classes having enough CC to shut them down with those longer cast times.

Another is that the bards have a pretty tough time but I think I'm still going to give them a shot.
the biggest problem with eq2 class balance is that alot of people can play eq2 and get away with not knowing how combat works 100%. so they complain and the developers listen to their customers, and end up breaking things as a result. also alot of class changes were made with only pve in mind and not pvp which ended up breaking pvp some. so its a mixed bag.

shamans will be stronger when they get AAs, and are still formidable in groups. just not till then.
