Just like Rampage had absolutely nothing to do with TMO reforming under new management and a new tag.

Neither guild directly destroyed the other, but the competitive pressure involved certainly played a role in the internal problems that led to both conclusions.

You're right though, it's not nearly as simple as I put it.
