Raid targets, epics and rare items should just be given to everyone then in instances like EQ2 & other games. EQ was an RPG with quests and a competitive raid scene since the original game on live.

Players enjoy beating competition in an RPG, it makes winning more fun. Its what drove this server to such a fiercely competitive state. It takes more than 1 guild to compete and there were epic raids that just wouldn't have been as fun to win/lose without having opposition. Also this competitive RPG created guilds on live back in the day like FoH and LoS who paved the way through the game for a lot of players on other servers. It was a race always to reach the end game, get that loot & win over the competition.

Lots of people enjoy competing for prizes, only a small subset enjoys gleefully shitting up the environment to ensure that they can be kings of their little molehill day after day, week after week, year after year, and they feel entitled to do so and throw temper tantrums when they're prevented. IRL, people like that and/or their descendants often end up with an appointment at the guillotine. On p99 we are kinder and gentler than RL, so instead we point and laugh and call them "class C".
