Nexus honestly wasnt that bad. I think people lump the nexus concept in with PoK books when talking about later expansions because they operate on a similar principle, but the actual effect of each on game play was pretty different. Nexus in no way replaced ports, because ports still had the advantage of speed over the nexus. If I remember right, nexus pads gave you 4 locations and triggered every 15 minutes, so a trip could take you up to 30 minutes. Ports in comparison have like 4x the number of destinations and are almost instant if you're near a busy travel hub (OT, EC, KC, etc). Plus, with the addition of x-locs in velious, waiting on the nexus only makes sense if you've got time to kill or are broke.

Bazaar definitely killed EC, but really the in-game listing serves essentially the same function as our EC forum board, and zone wide auctions were still a thing. Plus, some of the most fun I had in EQ was fooling around in the bazaar arena.

Luclin certainly isn't velious, but nothing about it really ruined classic EQ. I think the main reason a lot of people didn't like it was due to the time sinks it had, and the fact that raiding VT was about as much fun as a colonoscopy. They so really failed to take advantage of the faction story line. Should have done more with shadow haven, Katta, and Seru, like they did with velious faction.
