I never saw the commercial but its true. The weed has a higher % THC content with the different new hydroponics techniques in the mid-late 90s. The weed now, especially the strains coming out of california (probably elsewhere too), are unbelievable awesome. Newer and stronger strains are produced in mass these days especially due to the relaxing marijuana laws and strains are being produced that didnt exist before.
Ask anyone who smoked weed since the 60's+70's how much better the weed has gotten over the years.
I'm guessing the commercial was trying to say that the increased THC content is a bad thing.

Depends on what shit you were smoking in the 60s/70s. Punta Roja and others still blow away anything today. This claim has been around since the Reagan years. And prior to about 1975, there simply were not good testing methods. Domestic crops haven't risen in potency that much (only like 2%, and the peak potency was about 20 years ago).
