Yep this is also the way i remember it from live and eqmac. It was possible to bow shot a mob that was hitting you so long as you shot at something farther out than mob that where meleeing you, and it was far enough way to not trigger bow min distance. Of course the new target had to be in the direction of the mob that was beating on you.
