Most people aren't psychopaths who treat in game encounters as some personal vendetta, have permanent and crippling personality disorders and use the anonymity of the internet to attack people over a video game on a daily basis. Believe it or not, the majority of the player base is instead made up of people who enjoy EQ and this emu and aren't worried if the PVP is a perfect 30v30 every time, who is winning and losing the server, and most importantly give 0 flying fucks if someone made $40 off selling an elf pixel.
So if by "went along with that model for so long like sheep", you mean joined a guild that supported casual play, some PVP for fun and seeing some of the content you missed the first time around then sure yeah, lots of us sheep in there. I am thankful to Nizzar for providing an environment I could see some pixel gains and meet some pals while playing less than an hour a day on average.
