I also don't buy into the "if not nihilum it would be another guild" narrative. There have been plenty of other pvp boxes that have not been like this. Nihilum is a perfect storm of nerds and unemployment with complacent staff.
Thats what i mean though, to me xp loss in pvp is what put Nihilum there when they started out. If it wasnt for that, they could have been guerilla challenged. They could have been challenged anyway with some extra good opposition working together, which didnt happen. Maybe ok some other guild wouldnt have proceeded exactly the same way but im sure thats what Rogean had in mind. Some blue like poopsock mechanic where someone can "win" a zone and PVE on it after the other side gets hit with xp loss. Side effect was that it tilted the game table heavily toward zerging (which every MMO has anyway)

Im not sure what happened after, they didnt care, didnt have time, didnt think there was anything wrong with a guild having 0 contest day in day out for months but they left the mechanic there long enough so that Nihilum could establish that dominance and the opposition unable to build something solid because it was so much harder to go to the opposition and so much easier to get geared up through the zerg. It was super hard to build something vs Nihi and super easy for Nihilum to capitalize on that headstart advantage. The staff was told this would happen repeatedly long before Kunark hit.
