There are a lot of things that make leading or helping to lead a guild on red99 unappealing, at least for me, in no particular order:

1) the staff have given up on red99 and what you is what you get

2) the low pop that makes recruiting for a guild and retaining members incredibly difficult and a 24 hour a day job

3) the low pop also incentivizes the top guild to prey upon the lesser guild as a school yard bully because there's no one else to pvp and use your shiny weapons on

4) the constant drama amongst those who consider themselves "the resistance"

5) the fact we are about to be going on year 3 of Kunark and the game is incredibly stale

6) the constant forumquesting and ooc questing over every fucking thing and the lawn mower man approach where people can't distinguish between real life and elf sim

The box sucks, has sucked, and will continue to suck. Variance, exp, level range, whatever, none of it is going to do shit. A pvp server needs three to four if not more guilds all duking it out on a nightly basis. The reason that isn't happening isn't nihilum. It's because the launch was botched and no one wants to play here except people looking to experience uncontested raiding, people who enjoy solo pvp quest, and those who didn't realize how much this server sucks until they were play committed and decided to stay plugged in. Nothing short of a complete relaunch or new server, maybe blue transfers, will so anything to change any of this.

What you see is what you get with red99. First impressions are everything. Red99's first impression was a steaming pile of shit. You can only keep trying to put bandaids on bomb wounds for so long (though even bandaids are in short supply as of late).

I have no ill will towards nihilum. It's a guild of 15-20 life committed people to the game and box, and then a revolving door of random people checking out end game eq and then peacing out. Is that surprising on a progression locked server where within 2 months, if that, you reach a point where you can no longer progress your character? At that point you either become a sicko and level 17 alts, or you quit. Content is king. If there were more content, more guilds would thrive. If more guilds would thrive, less people would flock to the top guild. If less people flocked to the top guild more pvp parity would be present. Not rocket science.
