Actually, the PH for the fierce impaler is to the bottom left (as you're looking into the first room from the corner near the zone line), and the PH for the impaler swordfish is the one that spawns mid-left (PH is the piercer swordfish).

I've gotten back to back to back impaler swordfish as well as two fierce impalers within 10 minutes before. It might favor a specific spawnpoint (much like shellara ebbhunter) but can spawn instead of any lancers.
