Game Mechanics: wtf...is with these resists (SS inside.)

so we're in mistmoore and as a wizard my nukes are all i have but lately it seems i'd be better off with a melee since they're the only ones who have benefited from this patch.
Even with the lower element debuff on the mob when I nuke it seems like 60% are resisted and when they do land it's shit damage.
