There's only two ways to ninja loot something:

1. Being in the group that got the exp and looting it before others in said group.

and

2. Waiting for the corpse to go public and looting it before all others can.

The item belongs to whoever got the exp unless it was blatant kill stealing i.e. two able parties are there and the party that did not get FTE gets the exp. In my opinion, unless a group of able bodied people were all there camping it together, the mob goes to whoever is able to mobilize and get the kill first.
