It causes damage to gaming communities, and the MMO genre as a whole. Pay to win is not cool in any instance. I'm not comparing it to murder and rape, but just because it's benign in comparison to extremes doesn't make it right or even amoral.

You could actually argue the opposite, considering that those people (characters) are quitting. They just sit idly by as a -1 to server population, whereas someone purchasing and then playing that character represents the opposite.

Pay to win means having every item on top of actually being good at pvp, which you can't buy.
