Or that ending to I think Episode 5 when they dress up like cops & go try to jack the gang bangers. Man that was an incredible few minutes of footage right there. This show really got me enveloped in it's character development as well because it was so damn rich with the dialogue. I love Rust's philosophical rants. Amazing stuff.

Yeah man complete different cast, and narrative. It will be a whole other set of peoples drama, reality with the "True Detective" being the only subjective theme still but as far as continuance from season 1? Nope. The writer/creator Nic P has spoken about it.
