Even though it's true you are mostly going to be casting one nuke per fight, there is ways to make yourself more useful. For example rooting mobs when multiples are pulled / you have a warrior that is struggling to hold aggro. Also it's great to use your stun line of spells on runners, casters.
I did full groups and duo'd all the way up to 34, where I decided to quad because its retardedly fast exp to not quad. I enjoy my wizard, whenever grouping I tried to keep a good conversation going and to make a lot of banter.. you get invited back to a lot of groups that way and when I was logging in I frequently got tells of where am I looking to form a group today
