![]() Funny, I was thinking about the whole "hardcore" player and that they work harder and deserve more, etc. And this got me thinking of how a hardcore player now is nothing like a hardcore player back when EQ was new.
Classic EQ hardcore player: Online way too much. If not raiding was online doing other things waiting to raid more. Was a constant community presence. Did other things to occupy their time, trying quests, etc. Passed thru newbies so they could awe at their awesome gear. If a raid was called, he had to be online and ready, figure out a way to get to the raid, etc. Start clearing to the mob, hopefully the guild had all the necessary classes. Call up your buddy that plays a cleric on the phone and tell him to get on now! P99 hardcore player: Has xxx number of accounts, kept on login screen. Not actually playing the game, probably playing other games. Gets a automatic text message "Trak up", logs on account XX on player XX already camped there. Spam a few buttons, wait to see who won loot, log back out and go back to playing something else. The classic EQ hardcore player is actually considered a "casual" here and can't compete because he won't be able to get to Trak fast enough. And if he wants a chance to compete its considered "handouts". Funny how definitions change. Which player is better for the community as a whole? Everyone wants a classic experience here and the second guy is definitely not a classic experience. | ||
