There isn't nearly enough people to sustain two PVP servers.

Can we agree that an ideal world we'd have double/triple or more the current population? I'm fairly sure the majority would agree with that. So how do you attract new players? They've tried experience bonuses and that helped to a degree. Some unforeseen things like EQMac getting pk'd helped.

I think the only thing left is a new server. No matter what people say there is always an initial interest. A chance to establish yourself. A chance for manastones and prenerf guises.

Doing a different rule set, which really has to involve some sort of team based deal or its just a second R99, also gives the devs and playerbase to see if that ruleset is more attractive to people.

So if the end result of this is we figure out the best ruleset and increase the total PVP population by a modest amount why fight it? I know it may suck to some people who have invested time in their characters, but it's not like that time will be lost when the servers merge.
