Once you get a wu's quivering staff that will carry you a long way. Another good option is to get two wu's trance sticks - but the quivering staff will probably be better DPS for a long time until you can buy a staff of battle (~2k) or Imbued Fighters Staff / Peacebringer (6-8k)
Once you get your weapons you'll want to try to find some stat-boosting gear. Getting some AC-items would be fine too (azure sleeves are light, 12 ac, and cheap). If you can find an enchanter who is working on skilling up their jewelcrafting you can get some cheap +2 str rings, and maybe even some +3 str earrings. You might also be able to get a pair of jagged bands for really cheap (5 ac 3 str, I think?) If you somehow end up with 500pp to spend, you should buy a pair of 5 AC 55 HP rings. That will be your best bang for the buck.
