it's more a combination of them being 70% of the server, their players generally having more free time, and them treating the game like it's a job (i.e. things like buying up 55 mages for CoTH bots come Velious 5 months in advance, being grouped with porters/ fully buffed for raid content within 5-7 minutes of logging in, etc etc.)
tl;dr they have decisiveness, strong coordination/ efficiency (something you can't blame them for).
what you can blame them for is by doing so they make, ultimately, a predictable server with a predictable future -- they will always be 70% of the server because 70% of players want the best loot, and that sentiment will always outweigh the desire to be an underdog and topple the big guys. basically another blue server, and people in that guild seem to enjoy it. be nice if it changed, though.

Well said, with 1 little added point to this. When Velious comes out, once the gear gap closes between members of nilly in full tunare/ntov/sleeprs loot vs players in 80% kunark, plane of fear/hate armor. The server will be just nilly, and well people will get bored and quit. Nilly will basically kill itself due to boredem. Then red99 will die, blue99 will gain some members and get a little bigger.
I personally didn't want this merge to happen, but this isn't about me, if you can't see the big picture then you're delusional.
