The way I see it, a proper teams server was never done in EQ. VZ and TZ were coded in such a way that crossteaming and a sort of FFA social climate were inevitable. SZ had hardcoded teams that made crossteaming very difficult, and their teams were more balanced than VZ/TZ (even though evil team may have had a big advantage still). They really seemed set to have a very interesting and fun basis for a true teams server, but then they had to get all creative about it and decided to throw out the Play Nice Policy. Trains, corpse camping and overall griefiness will killl anything great in EQ.

If a server had the potential population for it, I don't think it would be all that difficult to do a teams server right. I still think they should delete the blue server and make a fresh teams pvp server for everyone to enjoy. That place seems to have become an overcrowded cesspool of unfriendly loot whores anyway; may as well turn the pvp on and let them have at it.

I'm in love with the race teams of VZ, though. There's just something romantic about elf team and their insatiable lust for the blood of those that would do harm to animals, or the environment. It was like a militarized PETA, and besides being completely hilarious it made fun RP as easy as being an ogre with a speech impediment.
