I work for one of the most competitive firms in the world, where every 4th person you meet is clearing $250k a year (1/8 $500k), depending on your office. But despite this one thing I noticed in common with all these young 40's partners is their focus on fixing their work life balance and retirement. There has to be a lesson in there.

These people live comfortable lives and enjoy their jobs, but routinely their biggest focus is on their health, travel, and family.

I guess to me what comes from any political debate is what will actually make me happy, and in all reality will any of the candidates really affect that. And having worked with the highest levels of office most have no desire to change anything, regardless if what they campaigned on.

So if you can work part time jobs and play Everquest and be happy with your life, why not. If toy want to work 60 hours a week competition for the next career opportunity, do it. But the chances of a politician really affecting your happiness or ability to pursue this is pretty minimal. Especially once they realize the limitations of office.
