Default Refusing to Patch

So my girlfriend just got a new computer, spiffy new all-in-one thing with windows 8 on it, nice upgrade from the laptop she's been playing on. So the first thing we do, of course, is install EQ and p99!

We get a fresh install of titanium on it, download the launcher, tell it where her eq folder is, and should be good to go right? But alas, the patcher seems to refuse to patch. She starts it, everything seems normal, but it doesn't actually patch any files. And she can see servers, clicks play, gets to the login screen (which is completely different and weird, has like a werewolf picture on it or something) and tries to log-in. At this point, nothing happens. It just sits there trying to log in and not doing it till we close it.

1) She is running as administrator.

(don't know what else to try and windows 8 is confusing to us both)

Edit: Stood over her shoulder this time. She... she was doing it wrong. All fixed.
