Default A Unique Launcher Installation Issue

I apologize in advance if this specific issue has been encountered, posted about and resolved in the forums already. I really did look around for something like my issue and couldn't find anything relevant hence my making of this post now. Anyway, here's the problem.

A few days ago when I installed the correct version of Everquest I also installed the Launcher as instructed. I logged into the game with the account I already had from the last time I played a few months ago, got into the game and everything was fine.

The day after it no longer works. Now, the Launcher wasn't saving the folder for the installed EQ so every time I went to play I had to go back in and select it. That wasn't a problem. This time doing so and attempting to enter the game resulted in an error. I should have at least taken a picture of the information I was given on my computer screen because now I cannot even get to that point.

Every time I try to start the Launcher my pc freezes up. The Launcher window comes up, part of the smaller screen for selecting folder path partly comes up and then everything, after a few minutes, locks up and I have no choice but to hard boot. Deleting the zip file for the Launcher, re-downloading it and trying again results in no change and I'm not sure what action to take next. One time the hard boot even triggered a scandisk and in the process it removed several files related to the EqEmuLauncher.

Might any individual have any idea what has gone wrong?

Edit: I have realized in advance I guess I'm not really installing the Launcher, just using its .exe file from the unzipped folder. Now I can't fix it and I sound a bit stupid with the title :-P

I'm clutching at straws, but right click on the launcher icon and go into "Properties"

Have you got "read only" ticked? Also make sure the launcher has full permissions.

Failing that, have you tried disabling any anti-virus programs? They can be picky about what gets to run properly and what gets stopped. Might need to tinker with your filters.

Your response did the trick in getting me on the right path. It had something to do with my antivirus because as soon as I shut that down completely everything was fine. Many thanks to you.
