Extended timeline allows casuals a chance to experience some of the high end content they didn't have a chance to get to during the corresponding live era. If professional poopsockers get bored cause they've already burnt through all the available content thats their own mistake.

Velious will be out soon, and it'll be awesome. There is plenty of (often underplayed) content to enjoy in Kunark until then.

Velious will be out somewhere between 2012 and 2087, and it'll be an icy tundra like Live. There is plenty of boring as hell lizard content to enjoy in Kunark until then.

There is allllllllllllllllllllllllot more to Velious than Classic EQ and Kunark. It will come - and it will be great.
It's more content but Kunark required a fuck ton more reconstruction to "classic" Kunark due to all the expansions. Velious was relatively left untouched and was under construct even during the Kunark dev. days. I await with my dick out.

I realize nobody likely can even give a rough guess as to when a supposed release date would be, save for the devs.

It would just be nice to know that they are indeed working on it, and maybe even a % estimate as to how complete it currently is. 40% complete vs. 5% complete would certainly make me more optimistic that I'll see it before I turn 30.

This.

They started with the PEQ database, as most servers do. Shit was already populated. The work they're doing is in fine tuning it to Classic era and putting in finishing touches (such as correcting spawn points/pathing etc), re-implementing broken and/or removed quests. Adding items that were removed, removing items that were added, removing mobs that were added, stat scaling for revamped zones and other things along those lines.

Kunark was vastly more affected by later expansions than Velious was. One simple example is the fact that LDoN added two new zones to Kunark. Veksar and Chardok B. Velious got no new zones ever.

An erudite once told me most the pathing if not all is completed for Velious. Kunark had a ton of overhaul with the current expansions.

When velious comes out I will join jeremy and stealin's guild, we will be BFF and they will help me to get me my epic (show some love to the french ikkys yes?)

Only if QF and fountree are gone though.

Might aswell be fun to have a chat with those specimens in vent.

The real questions will start rolling about a month after Velious release...what will be the next step for p1999?

I think a new classic server with the promise release of content on the real time schedule next time around will be twice as popular. P1999 has been a revolving door for many players due to the extended time of the content. On a real schedule (the original time line) our population would be much higher....MUCH higher all the way through.

It might be two, or even three years away, but a total re-roll of the server would be HOT.
